Sunshine Coast Lightning’s 2022 playing roster is officially complete with the Club today announcing new signing Annie Miller.
The young midcourter is comfortable at both Wing Attack and Centre and has shown immense talent while emerging through the NSW pathways, including as a GIANTS Training Partner in 2021.
Miller made her Suncorp Super Netball debut this year for GIANTS Netball in Round 2 as an elevated injury replacement player against Collingwood Magpies.
The 20-year-old is also a current member of the Australian 21 and Under side and is known for her speed, athleticism and endurance.
Head Coach Kylee Byrne said she was excited to see what Miller could add to the Lightning team.
“Annie is a real fierce competitor and has consistently been a top performer while rising through the junior netball ranks,” Byrne said.
“I think she will really benefit from our Lightning program, working with our team of coaches and High Performance staff, as well as our nine other athletes.
“One thing I’m really looking forward to in our 2022 team is the injection of young talent – they are excited, eager to learn and want to put in the hard work to get those on court opportunities.
“These athletes, like Annie and Reilley, are the future of Lightning and I really believe will compliment our core group of leaders.“
Miller said she feels privileged to join Lightning and take the next step in her netball development with a senior contract.
“Lightning is continuously amongst the top teams in the league and I’m just grateful to Kylee and the team for this opportunity,” Miller said.
“Playing in my first SSN game earlier this year just consolidated in my mind that professional netball is my passion and I can’t wait to get into pre-season training and get started!”
Miller joins a midcourt contingent of Laura Scherian and Mahalia Cassidy, while the rotational flexibility of Lightning’s defensive unit will also provide strategic options to help cover the Wing Defence position.
