Elite Pathways
SUPER NETBALL RESERVES
Launching in 2024, the Super Netball (SN) Reserves competition was established to support talent identification and to provide additional match play for athletes on the cusp of Super Netball.
SN Reserves features athletes who are in or on the cusp of Super Netball, including training partners, state league players and other athletes.
Lightning’s team, the “Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts” provides a tangible pathway for selected athletes into the SN, while also providing Lightning Training Partners and emerging players an invaluable elite competition.

SUNSHINE COAST THUNDER
Sunshine Coast Thunder is Lightning’s affiliate team in the Queensland HART Sapphire Series. The Thunder teams provide a Sunshine Coast pathway for emerging athletes in the region, competing in both the Sapphire and Ruby series. Shared facilities and resources with Lightning ensure athletes are afforded the best opportunity to develop and improve their skills and gain valuable court time. The team mainly competes at Nissan Arena in Brisbane, as well as selected home games at UniSC Arena.
The Sapphire Series allows Lightning Training Partners a competitive environment to ply their trade with the Thunder Head Coach working closely with the Lightning coaching panel to maximise their time across both teams.
