Sunshine Coast Lightning is excited to showcase local talent on the national stage, today announcing the Club’s Australian Netball Championships (ANC) team.
The team, which will be coached by Lightning’s own Christine Voge, is set to compete in the newly formed ANC format this September.
Of those poised to don the yellow, purple and navy are familiar faces including Lightning player Maddie Hinchliffe, Training Partners Binnian Hunt, Sienna Allen and Annabelle Lawrie.
The competition will also see the return of Annika Lee-Jones to the Lightning family after playing a season in the English Super League for the Celtic Dragons.
The squad of 12 also boasts a strong mix of experienced players along with developing talent and is accompanied by 3 Training Partners who have been selected after an extensive recruitment process.
Lightning Assistant Coach Chris Voge said she was excited to see what the team would produce out on court against top tier national talent.
“I have a real confidence in this talented group of athletes and can’t wait to bring them together as a team to establish connections, develop game strategy and ultimately work as a collective,” Voge said.
“Representing Lightning at any level is an absolute honour and I know first-hand how serious these players are taking the responsibility of playing in our inaugural ANC team.
“Exposing these athletes to the elite Lightning environment as part of their development program will go a long ways to bridging the gap between state and national standards and I’m thrilled for the ANC competition to go forward.”
Voge previously coached Lightning’s Australian Netball League affiliate Territory Storm in 2019 before being promoted to Assistant Coach ahead of the 2020 season.
The ANC competition is set to take place from September 13 – 19 at Traralgon’s Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium.
