Hailing from Toowoomba, Ava Black secured her first full-time professional contract in 2024 with Sunshine Coast Lightning. Black made her national debut in 2023 after being elevated as a temporary replacement player in the squad and quickly proved she belonged at that level.
Known for her athleticism and height, the young mid-courter can cover all three centre court positions, making her a diverse and formidable opponent. Unfortunately Black suffered a ruptured ACL in February and will miss the 2025 season.
