Elite Pathways

Australian Netball Championships

The Australian Netball Championships (ANC) is a national domestic tournament that showcases the rising stars of Australian netball. The tournament is generally played in August each year in a selected location in Australia.

The ANC program offers chosen netballers exposure to an elite high-performance program, with a focus on athlete development. Lightning’s ANC team, the “Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts” provides a tangible pathway for selected athletes into the SSN, while also providing Lightning Training Partners and emerging players an invaluable elite competition.

SUNSHINE COAST THUNDER

Sunshine Coast Thunder is Lightning’s affiliate team in the Queensland HART Sapphire Series. The Thunder teams provide a Sunshine Coast pathway for emerging athletes in the region, competing in both the Sapphire and Ruby series. Shared facilities and resources with Lightning ensure athletes are afforded the best opportunity to develop and improve their skills and gain valuable court time. The team mainly competes at Nissan Arena in Brisbane, as well as selected home games at UniSC Arena.

The Sapphire Series allows Lightning Training Partners a competitive environment to ply their trade with the Thunder Head Coach working closely with the Lightning coaching panel to maximise their time across both teams.
