ROUND 4 PREVIEW: LIGHTNING V MAVERICKS

Sunshine Coast Lightning will take on the newest team in the league, the Melbourne Mavericks, this Saturday in Round 4 at UniSC Arena.

The Mavericks are yet to secure a win so far this season, and will be hungry to get their first this weekend. Lightning are also coming off of two losses, and with the support from the vocal Sunshine Coast crowd, will be wanted to get back on the winners board.

Tickets are still available via Ticketek.

KEY MATCH UP

Liz Watson vs Amy Parmenter

Watson and Parmenter will be a key match-up to keep your eye on this weekend. Both of these athletes have impressive speed and strength

With Watson’s ability to attack the ball and drive to the circle edge, Parmenter will be looking to shut this down and stop Watson from an easy feed into the Lightning shooters.

Both players are prominent leaders on court, with Watson a Lightning Vice Captain and Parmenter Captain of the Mavericks.

COACH'S COMMENT

Head Coach Belinda Reynolds said she wasn’t concerned with the performances from the last two weeks and is looking forward to the contest this weekend.

“We’re still building combinations within the team, which was always going to take a while. We’ve taken a lot of learnings from both last week’s game and also the Fever game,” she said.

“So we’re in good stead for this game against the Mavericks. It’s about going back to our game plan and really executing that on game day, cutting down the errors and not forcing those passes.”
