Lightning’s 2027 roadmap confirmed

The Sunshine Coast Lightning are excited to announce their fixture for the upcoming 2027 Super Netball Season.

The Lightning will play seven games at their home court of UniSC Arena, kicking off with a blockbuster battle against the West Coast Fever.

The Queensland Cup is set to be contested in Rounds 2 and 9, with the Queensland Firebirds playing host early in the season before the Lightning look to defend home court on QLD Day in the corresponding match up.

Lightning fans will be treated to an ANZAC Day game in Round 3 against the Melbourne Vixens before hosting the newly formed Sydney Sirens in Round 4.

First Nations round returns to UniSC Arena in Round 13 with the Lightning taking on the Melbourne Mavericks, thanks our Match Day Partner to Manngoor Dja.

Lightning Owner and Chief Executive, Justin Pascoe, said he was thrilled to be welcoming seven games to the Sunshine Coast.

“We’re really looking forward to a bumper 2027, here at UniSC Arena,” he said.

“Our members and fans, biasedly, are the best in the league and we can’t wait to see our home court packed out.

“Having Netball live, and on free-to-air through the Nine Network is also a significant boost to the profile of Super Netball.

“As Club, to have our players back on free-to-air TV is incredible but as always the best place to watch Lightning Netball is courtside at UniSC Arena.”

The Lightning travel to Adelaide to take on the reigning premiers in Round 6, before a flight across the Nullarbor to take on the West Coast Fever in Round 8 for First Nations Round at RAC Arena.

Our interstate fans will be treated to two trips to Melbourne to take on the Mavericks and Vixens at John Cain Arena

The Lightning head to Sydney twice taking on the Sirens at Quaycentre in Round 10 and the NSW Swifts at Ken Rosewall Arena in the final home and away fixture to round out a blockbuster 2027 campaign.

The home-and-away season will conclude on Sunday 11 July, with the Finals Series commencing the following week.

Netball Australia CEO Mark Falvo said the 2027 season marks a significant milestone for the League, with the new broadcast agreement and an evolving competition creating fresh opportunities to connect with fans.

“The 2027 fixture has been designed to give fans more opportunities to experience Super Netball, whether cheering from the stands or watching from home,” Falvo said.

“Our new broadcast agreement with Nine Entertainment is an important step in growing the reach of our game and making it accessible to more audiences across Australia.”
