ROUND 2 PREVIEW: LIGHTNING V FEVER

Sunshine Coast Lightning will head west this weekend as they take on West Coast Fever in Round 2 of the Suncorp Super Netball season.

Both teams started the season strong, securing wins in Round 1, so will be looking to continue that momentum.

The clash will be the first time Courtney Bruce plays in front of her previous Club’s home fans, and both her and Belinda Reynolds are expected to have lots of support in the crowd.

KEY MATCH UP

Courtney Bruce v Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard

After training alongside each other for five seasons, Bruce and Fowler-Nembhard will be a key match-up to watch this weekend as they go head-to-head for the first time in the official season. Fans saw a glimpse of the match-up during Team Girls Cup, where Lightning were able to secure a 2-goal win against the West Coast side.

COACH'S COMMENT

Head Coach Belinda Reynolds reflected on the Round 1 win against the NSW Swifts and said they match up well with Fever.

“It was great to get a win under our belts to start the season, and it’s obviously given us great belief in what we’ve been doing. But we certainly know that each and every game we have to earn the win,” Belinda said.

“Fever are a formidable side and were impressive in Round 1. They were very clinical in attack, like we were, with both teams above 90% in their centre pass conversion.

“It’ll be a tough challenge and I think it’ll be one that will go down to the wire.”
