ROUND 10 PREVIEW: LIGHTNING V VIXENS

Lightning will come up against the ladder-leaders, Melbourne Vixens this weekend at UniSC Arena for Round 10 of the SSN.

Vixens were undefeated until Round 6, where Lightning were the first (and only) team to get the win over the Melbourne side.

Vixens will be looking for redemption this weekend, while Lightning will be determined to beat the away team for the second time.

KEY MATCH UP

Steph Fretwell vs Emily Mannix

Coming off an MVP performance, Lightning Captain Steph Fretwell is the ultimate play-maker for Lightning’s attack-end. She also has the ability to sink super shots in crucial moments of the game.

Vixens defender Emily Mannix, who was recently announced as an invitee for the Australian Diamonds squad, will be looking to slow down Fretwell in attack. Her long reach and game smarts have been a stand out this season.

COACH'S COMMENT

Lightning Head Coach Belinda Reynolds said the team has taken a lot of confidence from the last few matches.

“Vixens are a quality outfit, they’ve got stars all over the court. But we do line-up really well against them,”

“We’re really confident in the form we’ve shown from midway in the season through to now so we’re confident we’ll attack the Vixens hard this week.”
