Sunshine Coast Lightning is thrilled to be recognised as finalists across multiple categories in the 2021 QSport Awards.
Lightning‘s CEO Danielle Smith was named a finalist as Sports Administrator of the Year – the third time she has been recognised in this category – after her strong leadership and work in securing a second consecutive Queensland hub.
The Club also entered a joint application with Queensland Firebirds to recognise the 2020 and 2021 Suncorp Super Netball Finals series, which has been selected as a finalist in the Sport Event of the Year Award.
The collaborative nomination is a positive outcome for netball in the state with both teams going above and beyond to ensure a full Suncorp Super Netball season went ahead in both 2020 and 2021.
The Award winners will be announced at the QSport Awards night, this year held on Thursday 25 November 2021.
Given the amount of professional and community sport that was able to take place in Queensland across the past 18 months, the recognition is a strong endorsement of what Lightning has achieved both on and off court in that time.
