Sunshine Coast Lightning’s remaining 3 rounds have been revealed with Suncorp Super Netball announcing the final fixtures for the regular season.
Lightning will play two mid-week games at Nissan Arena before returning to USC Stadium for a huge clash against NSW Swifts in a Round 14 double header.
SSN worked closely with broadcast and venues to ensure the full 60 game condensed season could be facilitated – despite a number of complexities.
Understandably, the league faced challenges with the quick turn around and availability of broadcast and suppliers, and despite their best efforts were unable to meet the fixture preferences for every team.
Lightning CEO Danielle Smith is pleased to see the 3 rounds being played out of Queensland, culminating in the current top 4 sides going head-to-head in a USC Stadium blockbuster.
“Queensland has become the home of netball for a second consecutive season and it’s great that the SSN will complete a full season despite the COVID-19 disruptions,” Smith said.
“We’re grateful for the sheer amount of work going on behind the scenes at League and Club level, alongside our broadcasters to get the season back on track.
“Now we have clarity on the remaining 3 rounds, the focus returns to putting our best netball out on court and demonstrating why this is the world’s premier netball competition.”
Lightning will take on Adelaide Thunderbirds on Wednesday 28 July at Nissan Arena from 6:30pm in Round 12.
Round 13 sees Lightning face GIANTS Netball on Tuesday 3 August, from 3:30pm again at Nissan Arena.
The highlight of the final rounds sees Lightning challenge NSW Swifts in round 14 on Saturday 7 August at 12:30pm at USC Stadium, followed by a GIANTS and West Coast Fever showdown at the same venue.
Smith continued “Whilst we are disappointed that our designated home matches will not be played at USC Stadium, we are thankful that the league and the NSW Swifts have agreed to allow Lightning membership entitlements to be retained at our designated away match at USC Stadium on 7 August.
“We are thankful to have the opportunity to play in front of our loyal Members once again in 2021. Round 14 at USC Stadium poses as an extra special game, allowing us to give back to our loyal Members, Partners and fans and hopefully will provide a strong foundation to propel us into our 5th consecutive finals series.”
Further information surrounding ticket on sale times and Membership entitlements will be communicated over the coming days.
