Australian Diamond Captain and two-time Premiership winner, Liz Watson will join the Sunshine Coast Lightning roster in 2024.

Watson hails from Victoria where she has played 10 seasons with the Melbourne Vixens and has won two premiership trophies (2014 and 2020) as well as been awarded Most Valuable Player (the Sharelle McMahon Medal) four times.

Regarded as one of the best netballers in the world, Watson has cemented herself in the Wing Attack position both domestically and internationally, and also brings the ability to play Centre when required.

Lightning Head Coach Belinda Reynolds expressed her excitement for the previous Vixens co-captain joining the Club.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Liz to the Sunshine Coast and have her join the Lightning roster for 2024. With impressive leadership experience both domestically and internationally, she will be a fantastic asset to the team,” she said.

“Liz is a hard worker and brings immense speed and power to the midcourt, along with the ability to hit the circle edge with impact. She also consistently sits at the top of the competition for circle feeds.”
