Lightning ANC Coaching Panel Finalised

Elite player development is the priority of Sunshine Coast Lightning’s Australian Netball Championships side in 2021 and the Club is excited to appoint Jessica Whitfort to the coaching panel.

Lightning Assistant Coach Christine Voge will lead the ANC contingent, complimented by Whitfort who brings a unique perspective and skillset to the team.

Voge praised the addition of the current USC Thunder Head Coach to the expanded Lightning family, stating she will enhance and compliment her own coaching style and vision.

Voge is especially excited to utilise her in depth knowledge of both the USC pathway athletes and the Lightning elite environment.

“Jess has worked this year as the USC Thunder Sapphire Series Head Coach and many of these athletes have progressed to being selected as part of the Lightning ANC team,” Voge said.

“Jess has continued to pursue her coaching pathway through hard work and dedication with state league and representative teams, and over the last two years has created links, understanding and relationships with Sunshine Coast Lightning as a Club.

“Jess and I have collaborated on the Thunder and Lightning training partner program over the past two years and she will be able to assist with the strong integration of athletes, style of play and connection now in the ANC program.”

It was this week confirmed that Lightning will compete in an eight game mini-series across regional Queensland, competing against the Queensland Sapphires ANC team, the QLD Men’s and Pacific AusSport sides.

The series commences on the Sunshine Coast on Monday 13 September 2021, with Members and fans encouraged to attend and support the next generation of Lightning athletes.
