The Sunshine Coast Lightning are on the road this weekend taking on the Melbourne Mavericks in the first week of First Nations Round at John Cain Arena.

The Lightning will go into the match unchanged following their 10-point win over the Vixens in Round 10.

This will be the second match up between the two sides this year, with the Mavericks taking the win by nine-points in Round 5.

Lightning Head Coach, Belinda Reynolds said she was proud of her groups efforts to bounce back following some close losses.

“It really clicked for us on the weekend, we had both ends firing at the same time and the connection between everyone was on,” Reynolds said.

“We felt like we’d seen some of our best netball in patches over the last few weeks but to have it on display for 60 minutes was really pleasing.

“This competition is so close anyone can beat anyone on any given day, so you have to be at your best each week.”

The matchup between Donnell Wallam and Jessie Grenvold will be one to watch for Lightning fans.

Grenvold who came on as a substitute against the Lightning in Round 5 is set to have the match up on the inform Wallam.

Wallam, has fast become one of the premier scorers in the Suncorp Super Netball sitting third on the goals scored list.

Last week, Wallam was in fine form, shooting at 90% with 54 goals from 60 attempts including one from one beyond the circle.

Grenvold will be looking to play a key role on Saturday, after a strong showing in the Mavericks loss in Round 10.

The 23-year-old had four gains and three intercepts against the Thunderbirds.
