Round 14 Lightning v Thunderbirds- Match Preview

The Sunshine Coast Lightning take to UniSC Arena for the final time in 2026 in Round 14 Suncorp Super Netball action against the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

The Lightning will be looking to finish the season strong hosting the minor premiers who wrapped up top spot in Round 13.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season, after Lightning went down in a nail-biter at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Lightning Head Coach Belinda Reynolds said her side still had plenty of fire in the belly to finish the season strongly.

“Obviously it was a very disappointing result on the weekend and not where we wanted to be finishing our season,” Reynolds said.

“We have an opportunity this weekend to knock off the minor premiers and go out on a real high.

“Back at our home as well, our fans have been amazing this season, so we are going out and playing for them on Saturday night.”

The mid-court matchup between Liz Watson and Kate Heffernan shapes as an intriguing battle as the pair lock horns for the second time this season.

The Australian captain will be out to help Lightning atone for their one-point Round 7 loss.

Heffernan, who played a shutdown role on Watson in their last outing, will look to do the same when the Thunderbirds take the court on the Sunshine Coast.

It will be one to watch for Lightning fans as Sunshine Coast look to finish their year with a bang.

Saturday’s first pass is at 5pm at UniSC Arena. Come cheer on your Lightning.
