Suncorp Super Netball Round 7 game day information

The Queensland rivalry reignites this Sunday at the halfway mark of the Suncorp Super Netball season. Sunshine Coast and Queensland split the points in their first local derby back in Round 1 of the competition, but a lot has changed since then. Lightning is currently second on the ladder, while Firebirds is fourth, two points behind. The home side is statistically the best defensive team in the competition, having conceded the fewest goals of any Club (304). Keep a close eye on the two best rebounders in the league; Romelda Aiken (32) and our very own Geva Mentor (20) who are set to fire in front of a sold-out USC Stadium! For all the latest match day information for Sunday’s showdown, read below!

Chancellor State College carpark is for public parking and includes a taxi drop off zone. Additional free parking is available in the Claymore Road Carpark or throughout the rest of the University campus. Carpark 12C is available for accessible parking (first row) and is also home to the Nissan Carpark. If you drive a Nissan, simply drive on up and get free VIP parking (subject to capacity).

A campus map can be found at the link below. http://www.usc.edu.au/media/2851730/Campus-Maps-detail.pdf

Ticketing will have a marquee external to the Activation Zone in the carpark for any ticket collections. No tickets will be available for sale at the gate as it is sold out!

Entry to the Stadium will be via the Activation Zone, which will open at 11:40am. Security will undertake a bag check prior to being scanned into the Activation Zone. Fans are then invited to enjoy the Zone’s activities! Fancy your face painted? Perhaps have a bite to eat! Meet Lucy Lightning and grab a photo. The doors to the Stadium will open at 12:10pm.

A variety of hot and cold food will be available for purchase at the venue, including Raw Energy (inside), the Good Food Fellas, Frozen Sunshine, Van from Hoian, Calamari Canteen, a BBQ and Espresso XO. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase from the public bar in the Activation Zone (18+ photo identification must be shown to purchase alcoholic beverages). Please note the University of the Sunshine Coast WILL sell water bottles at our remaining USC Stadium home matches. These are available for purchase at the public bar only. Water bubblers are also available.

If you are attending a corporate hospitality function, please ensure you collect your wristband from the Lightning marquee ticketing desk. Lightning Laneway (Ground Floor Hall of Fame) will commence at 11:15am and finish at 12:45pm. Downer Sky Suite (Level 1 Mezzanine) will commence at 12:00pm and finish 15 minutes after the game.

There are two entry points – the Northern Gate (closest to the pool end) and the Southern Gate. Your ticket will say either North or South. Each stand is then broken down into aisles which are marked. Please note: when the game is in play, patrons will be held at the entry to the stands until the ball is in play at the other send, to minimise disruption to the players.

Fans who want to look the part are in luck! GAME Clothing, our official merchandise partner, will be on location with the latest GAME goodies so you can deck yourself out in some fantastic gear. Show your true colours and support the Lightning ladies. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing looking good, and GAME Clothing has you covered!

Available Lightning athletes will be signing autographs at the conclusion of the game (10 minutes after the game). This will occur in the entrance foyer to the Stadium. Half the team will sign for 15 minutes and then swap with the other half of the team who will sign for another 15 minutes. Signings are limited to one item each. This is to ensure the players have their correct recovery time and everyone gets a chance to have an autograph. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring we can get the balance right for everyone. Lucy Lightning will be available before and during the game for photos.

While the action on-court will be red-hot, the stadium itself can be quite cool. The new air conditioning system works perfectly, so if you feel the cold, we suggest you bring something warm to wear! If you are bringing a pram, please ensure to leave it in the front entry foyer on arrival – prams cannot be left in the aisle ways.

*** Tomorrow’s ANL clash at USC Stadium between Territory Storm and Netball NSW Waratahs gets underway after the Lightning v Firebirds match. First centre pass is 3:30pm as well. To watch the Storm v Waratahs ANL match you need to have a ticket to the Suncorp Super Netball match beforehand. ANL tickets will not be sold at the venue on Sunday.
