Head Coach Kylee Byrne has over 15 years’ experience coaching elite netball programs. In her first season in the role she led Lightning to finish second to qualify for their fourth consecutive finals’ series. Byrne was promoted to Head Coach of Sunshine Coast Lightning at the conclusion of the 2019 season after playing a pivotal role in Lightning’s 2017 and 2018 Premierships and 2019 Grand Final as Assistant Coach.
The Queensland native joined Lightning as Assistant Coach ahead of the inaugural 2017 season. In 2019 she was also appointed Head Coach of the Under 21 Australian team, a position that she still holds currently.
Previous to her role on the Sunshine Coast, Byrne was Netball Queensland’s Elite Development Coach, where she oversaw the state’s program to identify and develop the next generation of netballers. Byrne has also held coaching positions with Queensland Firebirds, Queensland Fusion, Australian Institute of Sport and Netball Australia.
Kylee has a keen eye to identify and develop talent, as well as help transition players into high-performing elite teams.
