Peace Poised For Second SSN Season
Peace Proscovia turned heads in her maiden Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season and the shooter is eager to build on that foundation in 2020.
Learnings from her first full SSN season combined with a full Sunshine Coast Lightning pre-season has the 30-year-old buoyant about the year ahead.
“I am expecting the best year ever that I’ve had in this world and I’m really excited for 2020,” Proscovia said.
“I learnt a lot last year and, as an individual, there are lots of things that I can improve on and go on to achieve.”
The Ugandan national captain played a pivotal role in Lightning’s versatile goal shooting unit alongside Stephanie Wood and Cara Koenen in 2019.
That tandem combination only continued to strengthen as the season wore on, providing a strategic edge for Lightning in their goal circle.
Peace led the Club’s goal shooting tally providing a tall target under the post, with her impressive reach providing headaches for opposition defenders.
But now attentions have turned to 2020.
Lightning’s pre-season stepped up a gear with the first full group training session earlier this week with a modified triathlon.
“It was awesome – getting the team together is something we’ve been looking forward to,” she said.
“Now everyone is back – with the exception of Phumza [Maweni] and Karla [Pretorius] – we’re excited to be back together.
“The training yesterday was team bonding, which was exciting.”
