New Rules Confirmed For 2021

The Suncorp Super Netball Competition Committee has this week informed Clubs of rule changes that will come into effect for Season 2021.

The Suncorp Super Shot and rolling substitution rules implemented in 2020 will continue, while Extra Time will also introduced.

If scores are tied at the end of regulation match time, a 90 second break will be taken.

The match will then enter five minutes of extra time. If the game is still level at the end of a five-minute period, the match will be declared a draw during the regular SSN season.

If at the end of an SSN Finals match scores are level after the 5 minutes of extra time, play will continue until one team leads by 3 goals.

As part of the Extra Time protocols, teams will not change ends at the end of the 4th quarter and the centre pass will follow on.

No timeouts can be taken, however substitutions will be allowed in the break before extra time and normal injury and rolling substitutions can be made.

Bonus Points will not return in 2021, with the Super Netball commission stating that the rule would be “shelved for the foreseeable future”.

The 2021 Suncorp Super Netball Season will commence on Saturday 1 May, with Sunshine Coast Lightning set to challenge Collingwood Magpies.
