Lightning Retain Training Partner Trio

Sunshine Coast Lightning is thrilled to retain talented trio Binnian Hunt, Sienna Allen and Annabelle Lawrie, who have re-signed as Training Partners ahead of Season 2021.

All three players are set to return to the Club to continue their development in the elite Lightning environment.

Hunt and Lawrie both made their Suncorp Super Netball debut earlier this year, gaining exposure to the demands of elite netball when extended squad allowances were made to accommodate the Queensland hub format.

A foot injury sustained in the pre-season hampered Allen’s ability to gain court-time, however the defender is approaching her rehabilitation diligently in the offseason in preparation for 2021.

Lightning Head Coach Kylee Byrne said while each player has demonstrated talent and skill, it’s also their collective dedication to the team that has impressed her in recent seasons.

“I’ve seen real progression in Binni, Annie and Sienna and believe the Lightning program has helped each of them to really elevate their game and build on a solid talent base,” Byrne said.

“They have also shown the maturity to recognise that one of their primary responsibilities as a Training Partner is to play their role in the team so the entire group can improve and function.

“The extended squad this year allowed us to fast track Binni and Annie’s development, which was really exciting for us as a Club and both athletes cherished those opportunities.

“Binni showed that her on court presence translates at the higher SSN level and when we put our confidence in her, she delivered.

“It is clear that Annie has immense talent and her hard work in training earned her a promotion to the extended squad and eventually her SSN debut and she will certainly learn from that experience.

“While Sienna was restricted this season, I have witnessed her determination to responsibly rehabilitate her injury and am confident that she is ready to put in the work to finesse her craft in 2021.”

Re-signing all three players provides further consistency within the Lightning environment, with 2021 marking Hunt’s fourth season with the Club, Allen’s third and Lawrie’s second.

Further Sunshine Coast Lightning Training Partner announcements will be made in due course.
