Downer School Holidays FAQs

Can my child be turning nine in 2018 to attend the April 9 clinic?

Yes. If your child is turning nine in 2018 (born 2009) they will be eligible to attend the April School Holiday Clinic.

Why are you only taking children between the ages of nine and 14?

We want to ensure all participants and our coaches get the best out of their experience. This year we have decided to target boys and girls who already have the fundamental skills and knowledge of netball. Our coaches are then able to design their programs to focus on the specific skill set of these age groups. These sessions will work on fine-tuning and developing the skills of the participants to get them ready to play at a higher representative level.

Will my child be able to be in the same group as their friend?

Groups for this school holiday clinic will be determined on the number of registered participants. A section has been included in the registration form where you can advise who your child would like to be in a group with.

We will aim to accommodate all requests; however, this may not always be possible. If you have any concerns, please direct them to community@sunshinecoastlightning.com.au

What Lightning athletes will be attending the clinic?

Athlete availability will determine who will be involved with the clinic. To ensure there is no disappointment, if we have to change players at the last minute, participants will find out on the day who is attending.

What do I need to send with my child to the clinic?

Please make sure you bring a water bottle, healthy snacks and one item that your child would like signed by the Sunshine Coast Lightning athletes.

What time should I bring my child on the day?

Registrations will open 15 minutes before the clinic commences. Any change to this time will be communicated the week before the clinic takes place.

How will I know if I have successfully registered my child for the clinic?

Once you have registered through the website and payment has been successful, you will receive a receipt of payment. If you do not receive this, please contact community@sunshinecoastlightning.com.au

How many children will be in each group?

Each Athlete will have no more than 20 participants to supervise on their own. Assistant Coaches will also be available to help on the day.

What should my child wear?

Participants should wear comfortable clothes suitable for physical activity. Please ensure they are also wearing supportive shoes. If the child usually wears any sort of brace, or has any sort of strapping, please ensure they are wearing the brace or have the strapping on prior to the clinic starting. You will be advised the week prior if any component of the clinic is to be held outdoors and participants will require protective sun gear.

Will there be first aid available onsite if my child gets hurt?

First aid personnel will be onsite. Please advise us prior to the clinic if your child suffers from any injury, illness or condition that may affect them on the day.

What if my child doesn’t know anyone else going?

All participants will be grouped with people around the same age, so it will be the perfect chance to meet new friends!

Can I stay and watch if my child is participating in the clinic?

There is limited seating space at USC Stadium when all three courts are in use. Anyone planning on staying will be asked to wait outside to ensure all court space is available for the clinic activities.
