THE PRE-SEASON PREPARATION IS NOW DONE AND IT’S TIME FOR THE REAL STUFF TO BEGIN. POINTS ARE UP FOR GRABS AND FIRST ROUND BRAGGING RIGHTS ARE ON THE LINE.

A new competition means all teams start as equal. New competition, new beginnings. There have been so many player changes in the off-season some teams are unrecognisable.

We compare each team’s stats.

Average Age – 24.9

Whilst the Thunderbirds have three 18-21 year olds their other seven players are all over 25. They are the only team not to have any players in the 21-24 year old bracket. Firebirds, Swifts and Vixens have no players who are over 30.

Average Height – 181.8cm

Kelsey Browne from Lightning is the shortest player, standing at only 164cm. Jane Cook will be this season’s tallest, standing at 201cm.

National League Games (Australian-league only) – Average Games – 446.6

The Magpies are the only team to have all 10 players having played a national league game in Australia with Cody Lange being the most inexperienced with 8.

* Susan Pettit from the Giants will make history on Saturday playing her 200thnational league game against the team she played 131 Trans-Tasman National League games for in the Swifts.

> Bec Bulley from the Giants and Natalie Medhurst from the Fever currently stand on 195 and 190 national league games respectively. Bulley will play her 200th in Round 5 against the Thunderbirds in Canberra and Medhurst her 200th in Round 10 against the Giants in Perth.

Other stats of interest

  1. There are 36 players with International experience with 15 players having played over 50 international games with four playing over 100 including the most capped player in Laura Langman – 141 for the Silver Ferns.
  1. 11 players have played in all three Australian domestic competitions (Commonwealth Bank Trophy, ANZ Championship and now the Suncorp Super Netball).
  1. Six countries will be represented in the Suncorp Super Netball.
