The battle within the international battle

Another chapter in the rich sporting history of Australian netball will be written on Saturday 26 August when the Samsung Diamonds face old adversary, England at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (BEC) in the Netball Quad Series.

Netball Australia is pleased to offer all Lightning foundation Members an exclusive 15% discount on silver ticket prices for the BEC double-header, with New Zealand and South Africa also facing off.*

A mesmerising match-up between two of the game’s greatest athletes awaits, with Lightning leaders Caitlin Bassett and Geva Mentor set to lock horns just months after combining for Sunshine Coast in its successful Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) campaign.

The passionate players know club ties will be cast aside for 60 minutes of heart-stopping elite netball in front of a boisterous Boondall crowd. There is nothing sweeter than earning a victory over a dear friend, particularly when it’s a test match and one that is paramount in preparation for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
“I would call us ‘frenemies’ as we are definitely friends but once that match starts we will be doing everything within our power to win for our country,” Bassett quipped.

“I’m looking forward to matching up against Geva. I think she is the best defender in the world at the moment. She was the best defender in SSN this season as recognised by the awards she won and I am looking forward to the challenge.

“England has grown in leaps and bounds in recent years. Having so many Roses playing in SSN has helped the squad develop.”

The Roses will be out to exact revenge after narrowly losing the last time the two teams met in February (46-47) and a crucial cog in the battle for redemption will be Mentor.

Watching the dynamic duo will be worth the price of admission. There are tickets still available but don’t delay, head here to secure your seat: http://bit.ly/2skl1Iz
