10 for 10 with #1

Steph Wood

Sleep in or up early?

Up early. ? Get my body moving with a walk and a coffee. ?

Game day breakfast?

Can not go past muesli with blueberries, strawberries and yoghurt.

How do you spend game day?

Up early for a walk, breakfast, maybe go to the shops or see a movie, nutrition station for lunch (always smashed avo on toast) then back home to chill out and watch some tv before a nap and then it’s time to get going for the game.

Nervous or excited before a match?

A bit of both, generally more excited than nervous though.

What’s in your kit bag?

Nothing really out of the ordinary; netball shoes, dress and a change of clothes for after the game.

Favourite pump up song?

Anything E (Erena Mikaere) has playing in the change room usually does the trick, but I always love anything by Beyonce.

Speak or silent in the changeroom?

Speak. I don’t like to be silent otherwise I think too much and freak myself out!

Key message before the match starts?

Remembering what my role is within the team and what the game plan is. Also, just before we run out, Lauz (Laura Langman) and I will exchange a few words and do our handshake and then it’s game time. ?

Most exciting thing about playing netball?

So many things ? One that sticks out at the moment would be playing for a common goal and knowing that it will take all 10 of us to achieve it. ?

Post-match recovery?

I jump in the ice baths or take hot/cold showers and then get food into me ASAP!
